ICAI Allows 10th Pass Students To Register For CA Course Under Provisional Registration.

The recent validating instance is ICAI amending 25E, 25F, and 28F of Chartered Accountant Regulations. This will allow students of class 10th to register for the CA course under provisional registration and complete the entire CA duration 6 months earlier!!!
Why Do Students Choose Provisional Registration For The Foundation Level Of CA?
Chartered Accountant is the most reputed course in the commerce stream. The attractive salary of CA in India, affordable CA fee structure, and lots of job opportunities lure many young students to become CA. Being a Chartered Accountant in India is lucrative, but becoming a CA is not that easy. It needs complete dedication, hard work, and passion for this course. The entire CA Course duration after the 12th exams was 5 years. Before the recent amendment, the eligibility to register the CA Foundation course for students of CBSE or State boards was only after appearing for the class 12th examination. Students can Register for the Foundation June 2024 or intermediate level only twice in a year i.e before 1 January or before 1 July. They also have to take a mandatory study period break of
- 4 months in between foundation registration and foundation examination and
- 6 months in between intermediate registration and its exams.
The CA foundation exams are also held twice a year in May and November.
In provisional registration, students can register for the CA Foundation course while taking their 12th exams. Here, ICAI and students both anticipate that they will clear their 12th exams, simultaneously clear their CA foundation exams, and become eligible for intermediate level, thus saving the 4-month study time.
For clear understanding let’s assume you were going to appear for your 12th exams in April 2021, so you register for the CA course on 28th June 2021. The 12th result is declared on 22nd July 2021 and you cleared your 12th exams. Now you will prepare for foundation exams and appear for your foundation exam being held in the month of November 2021. If you fail your 12th exam, you won’t be able to regularize your foundation exams. You need to clear your 12th exams to appear for ca foundation exams. If you clear your CA foundation exams and 12th exams you will be eligible to register for CA Intermediate exam in May 2022.
How Will This New Amendment Make You CA 6 Month Earlier?
According to a recent announcement by ICAI on 13th October 2020 the previous regulation on registration in the foundation course and its fees stated under regulation 25E and 25F are amended. The Quick snapshot of the amendment is as follows:

After the recent amendment now students who are in class 12th will register for the CA foundation before 1st Jan 2021. They will then appear for class 12th board exams in March or April 2021 and then appear for the CA foundation exam held in May 2021. The 12th result will be declared in the first week of July, and the CA Foundation Result will be declared in the last week of July 2023. If students are able to clear both exams, they will be eligible to enrol for CA Intermediate In December 2021, which is earlier than May 2022.
