The ICAI has introduced the CA New Scheme of Education and Training for aspiring chartered accountants. The Scheme will be implemented from July 1, 2023.
Under the CA New Scheme, there are two entry routes available for Students who wish to pursue chartered accountancy.
After a Study period of four months and upon completion of the Class 12th examination, Students become eligible to appear for the June/December Examination.
Commerce Graduates/Postgraduates must have secured a minimum of 55% marks, while graduates/Postgraduates from non-commerce backgrounds should have a minimum of 60% marks
Undergraduates/Postgraduates in the final Year of their graduation can apply, provided they submit their final year marksheet with the prescribe minimum marks.
After an eight-month study period, students can appear for the Intermediate Examination. Students must pass both groups of the Intermediate Examination to Progress further.
2 years of the practical training period is mandatory. After completing the training students must complete the Advanced ICITSS being eligible to appear for Final Examination.
The Final Examination is the last step towards becoming a qualified CA. Students who have completed their practical training may apply for the (BAA) certificate to appear in the Final exam.
Passing both groups of the Final Examination is necessary to qualify as a Chartered Accountant. After qualifying, students can apply for membership in ICAI.
